Invitation to Requiem Mass Fri 24 Oct
Helping to broadcast -
From Fr Paul Staes of the CICM in Singapore:
Dear Friends of Scheut Missions,
Allow me to “broadcast” to you a news item and invitation that are not necessarily of interest all of you. But it’s impossible for me to determine who should be “in” and who “out” of this email. I’m confident you will understand and take it from here.
At the request of Father Andrew Wong, parish priest of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Scheut Missions (CICM) agreed to have the mortal remains of Father Anthony Schotte, cicm - founder and first parish priest of Holy Spirit parish - exhumed for the purpose of having his ashes at the Holy Spirit columbarium as part of the 50th parish anniversary. Since Bishop Carlo van Melckebeke, cicm, was buried on the same day from Holy Spirit parish, Father Andrew proposed to have the Bishop’s ashes also at the columbarium.
The ceremony of installing the ashes of both confreres at the columbarium will take place after a Requiem Mass on Friday 24 October at 6 pm at the Church of the Holy Spirit. CICM confreres will concelebrate with Father Andrew.
Please see this email as a notification and invitation to thank God together with us for the services given by these confreres to the people of God in Singapore. Don’t hesitate to pass on this invitation to other persons who may be interested and, for all you know, may not be reached by this email.
Your prayers and, possibly, your presence at the ceremony are deeply appreciated.
God bless you.
On behalf of the CICM confreres in Singapore,
Father Paul Staes, cicm
P.S. The exhumation took place on 30 September in the presence of Father Andrew and myself. You may be interested to know that, on the same occasion, we also exhumed the mortal remains of our confreres Fathers Jeroom Deblauwe and Marcel Wille, as all four tombs were next to each other at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery. At present, we are still deliberating where their remains will be kept, either at St Michael’s or also at Holy Spirit.
