I am increasingly working a lot more but at the same time, it seems that I am falling back a lot on productivity. Things keep getting finished later and later - instead of submitting things early before any noise is made, i have people coming up to ask when they can get the stuff.
Personally, i feel that this is a big minus point. It means i am not exceeding expectations or even meeting them. At the same time, i think i am feeling loaded a lot of little little stuff which i think are important to do but others doesn’t seem to thing so. And hence in a way, they might think that I am not as busy.
Impressions impressions…
Sometimes i wonder whether that’s all it matters in working life. At least it is definitely a big boost for any career.
But at the same time, i dun really buy that crap that only impression matters. Cliche but ya - one day the truth will surface, prevail etc etc etc.
I think i have to strike a little bit more balance. I have to learn what is important to the bosses and what is not. At the same time, i have to know what needs to get done for the maximum benefit for everyone.
Is a career worth working hard for? Yes! But i think a career should be worth working hard for as a means to other ends, like family and stuff. I have to work sufficiently smart enough to give enough time to watch TV with my family, spend time with my friends and be with my loved one.
May God watch me as i do so.
